I have a B7800 with less than 4 hours. Today the loader control started binding in the bucket-down position. I took the control console cover off and could see nothing wrong. It seems to be something catching inside the valve. Any suggestions for a quick fix? I really don't want to send it back to the dealer for a few days even though it is still obviously covered by the warranty. Thanks.

I wonder if the bucket also lowers to the ground when this happens? It might just be the float feature and that's normal. If it clicks when the handle is pushed all the way and it stays there until pulled back and the bucket is on the ground then that's likely it. If you aren't familiar with the idea, in float the bucket is free to move up and down so it can follow the ground contour. ....

No, there is actually a recently developed "catch" in the valve (for lack of a better description). It is difficult to move the control lever from the first "down" position to the second fully forward (down) position. I don't know a lot yet about running this machine but I do know that it is not working like it did a couple days ago. I checked the locking mechanism and it is not interfering with the lever. Thanks. ....

Snog, your loader control valve assembly has two spools, a single lever operates both through a linkage. Examine the linkage free from the spools by removing the two clevis pins that connect the linkage to the spool. If the linkage is free of kinks or binding, the problem is in one of the spools.
There are two tiny ball bearings on the loader boom (arm) raise/lower spool piston. These provide the "detent" or friction that holds the boom in float, as Tom said. If one or both of these tiny ball bearings has come out of position you will have a binding action that will keep the spool from working properly.
Disassembly of the spool is not for the weak of heart, there are springs that can fly if you aren't careful. Best to leave this issue to the dealer, especially if your machine is under warranty. ....

not too sure on kubota but on nh valves the spool cap( the pieces connecting the two spools to the joystick) get a little bit of a twist in it, so that they are not plumb. it is a matter of loosening the screws and correcting. ....

Definitely sounds like the detent bearing or spring. Suggest you discontinue using the loader until you have this condition fixed. You could easily turn a simple repair into an expensive one by scoring the spool with continued use. If you aren't familiar with spool valves, don't make this be your first attempt. Under warrenty, let the dealer deal with it. ....

As I'm still down under I hope the boys get to it for you quickly! Let me know how it works out as it could be two possible things, one the linkage and two the detent balls. ....

I have a L3130, with a LA723, and started to have problems with my FEL value binding. Two weeks ago it stopped working while was moving a full bucket of LARGE stones. Luckily know one was around. Turned out the one of the control valve links broke in half, and the other cracked right where the safety lock pin goes. Took the pieces to my dealer and they never seen that happen before. After taking apart a new valve assembly we found the linkage, that broke, was redesigned (beefier). They replaced the linkage under warranty. ....
